    I first ran the Mt. Baldy Run To Top course three years ago- I had just started out running, and a friend of mine was doing it, and he convinced me to join him. It was an exhilarating experience, and I have since made it an annual Labor Day tradition of mine.

    I often need to get the current SHA1 after making a new commit, so I can paste it into a cherry-pick on a different branch, or into the deploy interface. The easiest way is by adding an alias:

    So I needed to quickly validate a CSV, and identify all the bad lines in it. I don’t like re-inventing the wheel, so I did a Google search for ‘csv validation regex’. I couldn’t find any, so I made one myself!

  • Rules of Writing

    I recently came across Hemingway, an app that helps people follow some of the ‘rules’ of writing. Curious, I threw some of my old schoolwork at it, and it complained of my writing being ‘too hard to read’. I was not really surprised- this was what I got all the time during WRIT 140- but I disagreed with the results. I found the tone of the advice particularly annoying; so much so that I decided to write about it.
